2 Forks Up is a cozy restaurant with a small dining room, a bar, and a few pub tables. There are a couple tvs located at the bar, which are visible from most of the seats in the restaurant. The menu is standard American bar/restaurant fare with a heavy seafood influence. There are burgers, sandwiches, wraps, a couple steak and chicken entrees, while the rest of the menu boasts a wide range of seafood entrees, including a fish sandwich as well as fish tacos. There is no set kids menu, but there are enough options for that kids will find something they enjoy (chicken fingers, grilled cheese, etc). Service was very quick and attentive, and the food was served at a fine pace. The Lobster Bites were a delicious surprise of an appetizer. Recommended to us by our server, they are four lobster chunks rolled in bacon with green onion and then drizzled in maple syrup. For some reason they are served underneath a handful of onion rings. Frankly, I'm not sure why, the onion rings seemed out of place... perhaps they were needed to help justify the $10 price tag.
Fish: The fry was a decent size, while the haddock was well seasoned and fresh. The batter was flavorful, but slightly greasy. Unfortunately, the fry was also slightly under cooked resulting in a slightly mushy texture of both the fish and batter. The fry was also served on top of the fries as this probably contributed to the poor texture. You could also tell the fry was under cooked because the batter had indentations from the wire rack it was drained on. Had the fry been cooked slightly longer the batter would of set better.
Tartar: Not very good. A strong onion flavored mayo. I ate the majority of the fry without tartar.
Sides: The colselaw was excellent. It was fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The coleslaw was the star of the plate. The sidewinder fries are unusual and tasty, think of a thick cut curly-q french fry. They are also battered and fried and were very good.
Clam Chowder: A HUGE portion of soup. I ordered the bowl for $7 and it was easily enough to share. They also offer a cup for $4. The chowder was creamy, well seasoned, and full of clams. My only complaint is that it seemed to not have any potatoes. I think this would of helped thicken it up slightly. Overall, this was a very good bowl of clam chowder and I absolutely will order it again.
