Buffalo Wings & Brewhouse is located on Oliver St in North Tonawanda. The fry is skin on haddock and is available beer battered only. The fry is served with coleslaw, bow tie pasta salad, and deep fried Idaho potato chips for $14.55. They do offer a fish fry special where you can get two whole frys for $25.00. The fry is served for dinner only, currently on Thursdays and Fridays, and while reservations are not necessarily accepted we were able to call ahead and reserve a table.
Per their website, "Buffalo Wings and Brewhouse specializes in local draft beer and cider on taps. We also sell beer and cider to go in four or six-packs. Or, fill a growler to take home. Our menu includes Buffalo wings, roast beef on weck sliders, hummus veggie & chip platters, fresh-cut, deep-fried potato slices and apple-pie pierogies. Weekly specials include the owner's favorite: Fried chicken with a smoked paprika rub." As stated above the menu is small, but offers a decent variety for what it is. There are no waitresses, you order at the counter, have a seat, and they bring your food to you. The wait wasn't long and the food arrived hot and fresh.
Fish: A nice sized piece of skin on haddock. The batter was flavorful and crisp. The fish was seasoned well and cooked nicely but seemed to be of a slightly lesser quality. The fish wasn't the bright white that you see in other frys. It still easily got the job done though.
Tartar: A homemade, mostly mayonnaise, tartar sauce, mixed with a small amount of dill relish. I've had better, but I've certainly had worse.
Slaw: A very strong version with excellent flavor. A nice mix of red cabbage, green cabbage, and carrots tossed with a tangy and creamy dressing. I debated ordering another side of this, as it was that good.
Sides: Pasta salad isn't exactly the quintessential side for a fish fry. But this bow tie pasta salad was a welcomed addition to the fry. Perfectly cooked bow tie pasta was mixed with finely diced red onion, sliced tomatoes, and shreds of carrots and then was lightly dressed in a flavorful vinaigrette. The deep fried Idaho potato chips were slightly disappointing, as they arrived soggy. While they weren't fully cooked, they were seasoned well with salt. Ive had these more than once and never had them this soggy before.. Not everyone's perfect, oh well. If you desire, there is malt vinegar and ketchup on the table by the coffee machine.
Overall: If you're looking to slug back a few craft beers, listen to some great tunes, while enjoying a fish fry in a chill atmosphere, then this place is perfect for you. They have 16 taps, and multiple coolers filled with singles and 4 packs of beer as well. The wings are also a fine choice as I find them to be on par with most other local joints.
Social Distancing Score: 9.0 / 10
The tables were nicely spaced, all employees were masked, and there was hand sanitizer at every table.
